SEWING 101: LEARN THE BASICS
If you've been wanting to learn to sew or you haven't touched a machine in years, this is the class for you! In just one session we'll walk you through the basics; With all the new skills you have acquired you will create an ZIPPERED COSMETIC/ OR MENS TOOL BAG.
Here's what we'll cover:
Basic intro to a sewing machine, including how to sew a straight seam
How to cut fabric accurately
Pinning and sewing seams, understanding seam allowance
Install a regular zipper
Leave class with an understanding of sewing fundamentals, and the knowledge to tackle more sewing projects on your own!

SEWING 102: NEXT STEPS
Join "STITCHED WITH STYLE" and lets take your sewing skills to the next level! With our assistance you will become fully confident with your sewing skills and learn to install button closures which can be used in several future projects! You’ll leave class with a BUTTONED-UP ENVELOPE PILLOW CASE, and once you know how to make one, you can make dozens more to deck out your sofa in DIY style!

“alteration basics”
"Stitched With Style" will offer demos and show you how to alter an item you've brought in! Bring in your clothing that requires mending and alterations! Learn to make your own basic alterations to store-bought clothing, including lengthening and shortening hems, altering waistbands, button holes, replacing zippers, tapering tops and more. We will give you step-by-step instruction on simple techniques you'll be able to use in all your future tailoring projects.
Skill Requirements: This is a beginner garment sewing workshop; you do not need to have any experience sewing clothing, but you must have basic machine-sewing skills. Our Sewing 101 class (or equivalent) is a prerequisite for this class. (You can register for one of our upcoming Sewing 101 workshops here.)

Spend the day exploring the heart of New York City’s legendary Fashion District with Stitched With Style owner, Jamila Madyun, as your personal guide.
After years of living and working in New York, Jamila has curated the ultimate fabric shopping experience, taking you beyond the typical tourist stops and into some of the city’s best fabric, trim, and notions stores. Whether you’re a beginner, fashion student, designer, or sewing enthusiast, you’ll discover endless inspiration while shopping for unique fabrics, specialty trims, sewing supplies, and hidden gems you won’t find anywhere else.
Our day also includes a visit to the inspiring fashion exhibits at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), followed by dinner and shopping in the heart of Times Square before we head back home.
This annual trip is one of our favorite traditions—a full day of creativity, shopping, learning, and connecting with fellow makers who share your passion for sewing and fashion.

UPCYCLE SEWING WORKSHOP
Our upcoming “Upcycle Workshop” is all about revamping your clothing! Design Students will learn how to upcycle your favorite piece of clothing, old jeans, jackets, or even thrift-store finds. In addition, learn how to deconstruct your clothing into an innovative fashion piece. This workshop will show you some great techniques for making denim easier to sew with.

Create a stylish, versatile Kimono Duster in this hands-on sewing workshop designed for confident beginners and beyond. Come sew, create, and elevate your wardrobe with a timeless handmade piece!
In this class, students will learn to cut fabric, assemble garment pieces, and finish seams while creating a lightweight layering piece that can be dressed up or down.

Adult beginner clothing sewing series
Join our entry level clothing class for adult sewist, and learn to create lounge pants, basic knit top, and more. Curriculum is based on your individual needs. This is a great series for students interested in a weekly program to strengthen their skills.
If you are a returning student to this program you are welcomed to use it as an open studio workshop.
